A workshop is creative class opportunity offered by or through The Creative Place. A workshop may be a single day or a multi-day event. It is primarily an opportunity for creative learning, and it may or may not include overnight stays and “free creative” time in addition to the more structured learning opportunity. A retreat is an event scheduled by or through The Creative Place that is generally an opportunity for a less structured creative time. Participants bring their own projects to play with during their retreat. However, a Guild, group, or shop may organize a retreat utilizing The Creative Place buildings and provide a more structured event or workshop of their own.

Registering for a retreat or workshop is easy! Simply complete a “contact box” found on many pages of our website, and we will be in touch! Or, you can call 913-484-5496. The Creative Place can accommodate up to 15 overnight participants. However, our studio / classroom space can accommodate many more persons for a class / workshop or lecture. For sewing (with machines), scrapbooking, or stamping, for example, The Creative Place studio could easily accommodate 25-40 persons; for a lecture / trunk show, 75-100 could be seated. Whatever your creative needs, please contact us to explore available options!

For the creative part of your stay, bring whatever supplies you will need for your creative play. The Creative Place provides tables, chairs (currently, adjustable chairs for up to 15 participants; folding chairs for numbers greater than 15), two cutting stations with cutting mats (you’ll need to bring rotary cutters and rulers), two pressing stations with irons, an Accu-quilt Go! Cutter, and design walls that are all included for use as part of the retreat price. The Creative Place also has a limited number of BERNINA sewing machines available for rent for $10 per day. Additionally, The Creative Place provides bed linens and towels for your use during your overnight stay, along with a kitchen with dishes, pots / pans, refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher, coffeemaker and coffee/ tea bags. The Creative Place does not provide meals. There is a full kitchen for use by our guests. You may choose to cook, bring in prepared food for reheating, carry in pizza or other “carry out” food, go out and enjoy local restaurants, or any combination thereof! Occasionally, a workshop held at The Creative Place may include one or more catered meals in the workshop package. This will be specified in the description of the workshop.
